Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid made a surprising revelation during a post-race interview at the Winter Olympics. Laegreid, who won the bronze medal in the men’s biathlon event, confessed to being unfaithful to his girlfriend. The emotional disclosure came during a live broadcast with Norwegian broadcaster NRK at the Milan Cortina Games.
Expressing deep regret, Laegreid admitted to cheating on his girlfriend, whom he described as the love of his life, six months after meeting her. He disclosed that he had come clean about his infidelity to his partner a week before the interview. Despite the public reveal, Laegreid emphasized his unwavering commitment to his girlfriend, stating that his focus was solely on her.
In the same event, Laegreid’s teammate Johan-Olav Botn clinched the gold medal with a flawless performance in his Olympic debut. French athlete Eric Perrot, the overall World Cup leader, secured the silver medal after missing one shot. Laegreid, who also missed a target, finished in third place, 48.3 seconds behind Botn, claiming the bronze.
This marked Laegreid’s first individual Olympic medal, having previously won a gold medal as part of the relay team at the Beijing Olympics.
