“Satellite Images Show Iran’s Salvage Efforts After Attacks”

Date:

Recent satellite imagery indicates that Iran may be engaging in salvage operations at two nuclear sites previously targeted by Israel and the U.S. However, experts note that there has been no substantial progress in Iran’s nuclear program following the attacks.

Despite some efforts to repair the damage caused by the U.S., there is no sign of significant activity at the sites, according to Joseph Rodgers, deputy director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

New satellite images reveal the construction of roofs over damaged buildings at the Isfahan and Natanz facilities, marking the first visible activity at these sites since the conflict in June last year.

At the Natanz site, where Iran conducted most of its uranium enrichment, panels have been placed over the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant’s anti-drone cage, potentially to conceal ongoing activities during the recovery process, as suggested by Spencer Faragasso from the Institute for Science and International Security.

Iran is likely searching for surviving materials and equipment, including highly enriched uranium, to recover from the attacks. Vehicle activity has been observed at the Isfahan facility, with indications of efforts to re-bury tunnel entrances.

Although Iran may be aiming to rebuild its nuclear capabilities, experts believe that restoring the facilities to their former state would require considerable time, resources, and investment. The impact of the attacks has severely hindered Iran’s enrichment program, with facilities like the Fordo site appearing non-operational.

While satellite imagery shows limited activity above ground, it remains uncertain what may be happening below the surface. Questions also linger about the whereabouts of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

In conclusion, despite visible efforts at the damaged sites, there is no clear evidence of significant progress towards reconstituting Iran’s nuclear program. The extent of recovery and future developments remain uncertain, with multiple factors influencing the country’s nuclear capabilities.
