The family owned a Tesla Model 3 since 2022, with Grok being a new feature automatically added to Canadian vehicles in October. Grok, integrated with the social media platform X, offers different personalities like Ara, Rex, Eve, Sal, and Gork. Despite not setting the chatbot to “not safe for work” or activating “kids mode,” the mother was surprised by the default content allowed.
Tesla did not respond directly to the mother’s experience, but xAI mentioned “Legacy media lies.” Grok, launched in November 2023, was designed by Elon Musk to promote open conversations, which can lead to unexpected outcomes.
