Canada has confirmed their participation in the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, a prestigious women’s soccer tournament featuring four teams including the host United States, Argentina, and Colombia. The Canadian team, currently ranked 10th, is set to kick off their campaign on March 1 against Colombia, ranked 20th, in Nashville. They will then face the formidable U.S. team, ranked second, on March 4 in Columbus, followed by a match against Argentina, ranked 30th, on March 7 in Harrison, N.J. This will be Canada’s fourth appearance in the tournament, with previous finishes of second in 2024, fourth in 2023, and third in 2021.
The reigning champions of the SheBelieves Cup are Japan, who claimed victory in 2025, ending the United States’ streak of five consecutive titles. The U.S. has dominated the competition, winning seven out of the ten editions held so far, with France and England clinching the title in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament, Canada’s coach Casey Stoney emphasized the importance of competing against top-tier teams that are likely to feature in the 2027 World Cup. Stoney highlighted the SheBelieves Cup as a valuable platform for assessing the team’s capabilities and expressed eagerness to compete for the title. Each participating team brings a unique playing style that will present challenges and aid in preparing Canada to elevate their performance.
The Canadian women’s team concluded 2025 on a challenging note, enduring a five-game losing streak and facing a goal drought lasting 454 minutes. Despite these setbacks, they are gearing up to showcase their resilience and skill at the SheBelieves Cup.
