“Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre Guests on Joe Rogan”

Date:

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is scheduled to make an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, a highly popular podcast globally.

In a social media update on Wednesday, Poilievre shared that he recently participated in a discussion with host Joe Rogan. Expressing gratitude to Rogan, the Opposition leader mentioned, “Fought for Canadian workers and Canadian interests on the world’s biggest podcast. Thank you [Rogan] for an amazing conversation. Let’s get tariff-free trade.”

A spokesperson from the Conservative party confirmed to CBC News that a three-hour episode of Rogan’s podcast featuring Poilievre will be released on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking outside the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, Poilievre described his conversation with Rogan as great, emphasizing that Rogan is a fantastic individual.

Poilievre explained his motive for appearing on the show as advocating for Canada’s interests, especially as discussions on the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement are ongoing. He highlighted the importance of leveraging the goodwill of the American public for achieving tariff-free trade and supporting industries like auto, steel, aluminum, and lumber, benefiting not only Canadian workers but also American consumers.

Rogan’s podcast has consistently ranked among the top charts on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts, with a substantial following exceeding 20 million subscribers on YouTube alone.

Despite his podcast’s popularity, Rogan has faced criticism in the past for making controversial remarks. This includes instances where musicians like Neil Young withdrew their music from Spotify due to Rogan’s comments on COVID-19 vaccines, although Young later restored his music on the platform.

Rogan issued an apology in 2022 following backlash over his use of offensive language in previous episodes. In a podcast segment post last year’s federal election, Rogan mentioned having invited Poilievre during the campaign, which the Conservative leader initially declined.

During a recent appearance on The Bridge podcast, Poilievre emphasized the importance of engaging with diverse media outlets to broaden perspectives and foster growth.

Poilievre’s visit to Austin, Texas, where Rogan is based, was part of a broader U.S. trip, aiming to engage with various platforms and audiences.

The podcast episode featuring Poilievre is set to air on Thursday afternoon, showcasing his advocacy for key Canadian interests on a global platform.
